Kristi Edwards

recently moved to Maui from Marin County, California.  As a child, she begged her parents for piano lessons, but happily switched her focus to the flute to be part of the school band.  Kristi played flute all the way through school (marching band in college satisfied the needed physical education requirement – yay!) and then just never stopped playing.  She was part of Toutes Ensemble (flute, violin, cello) playing gigs for weddings, active in the West Marin Community Chorus and Orchestra and the West Marin Music Festival as a performer and administrator, and self-produced several chamber concert series: Tuesday Nights at Chez Madeleine, the Jerry Friedman Non-Profits Benefit Concerts, and benefit concerts for the Point Reyes Presbyterian Church where she served as the church flutist for over 10 years.  Her favorite chamber concerts featured the lives and music of Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn.

The beneficiary of amazing public school music teachers, Kristi’s more recent influencers include Amy Likar, (Oakland Symphony – founder of Summerflute — proponent of Alexander Technique and Body Mapping) and Viviana Guzman (International Flutist – San Francisco Flute Society – Flutes by the Sea Masterclasses).  After retiring as a legal assistant and eager to play more music, she was thrilled to learn about the Maui Flute Choir and grateful to be a part of it.  Kristi plays a Powell Conservatory model C flute with an Aurumite head joint.
